Let’s get outside the city and make our way OTP (Outside the Perimeter) to Noona, an American steakhouse and oyster bar in the Parsons Alley development in Duluth, GA. Noona is a high-end surf and turf restaurant serving up all your favorites from oysters to wagyu beef tartare. The restaurant is centered around an open kitchen with a 9-foot wood burning hearth.
There is also a raw bar filled with a variety of raw oysters that changes daily. The bar features craft beers, inspired signature, and classic cocktails and an extensive wine list.
For appetizers, we started off with the crab toast. Two large slices of sourdough bread topped with lump crab meat, yuzu, garlic, and scallions. In addition, we got the Caesar salad with a side of grilled chicken. Both appetizers were delicious. The crab toast was probably my favorite. The bread was toasted to perfection and it had the perfect amount of crab. So delicious! As far as the salad, I mean you can’t wrong with a fresh salad on a warm afternoon.
Now for the main entrees. We had the wood grilled salmon with kimchi collard greens and herb oil. The salmon was cooked well done. The kimchi collard greens were really good. Keep in mind, it is really spicy. I love spicy food so I did not mind the heat. I did have this on the side because I was not sure the heat level. I would recommend having it on the side and adding it on top of your salmon. This is a really good dish.
Next, we had the seared scallops. The scallops were in a yuzu truffle sauce which was unbelievably delicious. The scallops are served with a braised daikon radish and napa cabbage. I also ordered a side of the smashed baby Yukon gold potatoes. This was perfect with scallops. This pairing is excellent together. All you need a great sauvignon blanc wine to go with it and you have the perfect dinner.
The meals were so good. Now it was time for the grand finale — dessert. The dessert was not on the menu. Our waitress told us our options and we went with the blueberry cobbler. She mentioned that all of the desserts are made in house. The blueberry cobbler came out hot and served with ice cream. Keep in mind, if you do order this, ask for a little extra ice cream on the side, believe me, you’ll need it. It was so good! This warm dessert ended our dinner just right.
What did I think about Noona? It is a great restaurant! It is a hidden gem in Parsons Alley. If you want a relaxed environment with a lovely ambiance, Noona is the place to visit. Even if you are looking for a nice bar for a date night and do not want to travel into Atlanta, this is your place. Now, if you just want oysters, keep in mind that Noona has Happy Hour from 4-6 every day with $1 oysters.
Bottom line, Noona, is a restaurant that has many options for everyone and for any occasion. Thank you so much for hosting my family and I. We will certainly be returning.
