I love Mexican food so I decided to try two different types of quesadillas and a burrito. Here are my thoughts:
Aloha BBQ Quesadilla
Each box comes with two quesadillas. They are moderately sized and individually packaged. If you wanted a light snack, I would recommend having one, however, if you are hungry, definitely have both. As mentioned above, I love Mexican food so I figured this would be a great twist to a traditional quesadilla.
You can make these several ways, in the microwave, stove top or on a panini press. I decided to make mine on the stovetop. This quesadilla is vegan therefore inside there were bbq savory grounds, pineapple, jalapeño peppers, pinto beans, and vegan cheese. To my surprise, this was my favorite meal out of the three that I tired. It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory.
My only recommendation is to probably warm the quesadilla up in the microwave first to get most of the frozen temperature down and then brown in a pan. It took a little longer than the suggested 5 minutes because the food was so frozen. Other no complaints and I highly recommend the Aloha BBQ Quesadilla.
This quesadilla is vegetarian so it did contain pepper jack cheese. In addition, there were mushrooms, Tuscan savory grounds which was vegan, garlic and poblano peppers. This one was okay, it was mushroom overload in my opinion. I do think if there weren’t so many mushrooms, the bend would have been perfect. I think I will try another batch because overall, the taste was amazing. The pepper jack cheese, garlic, and peppers really made this enjoyable.
As far as cooking it, follow the same method as above.
The Brazilian Burrito
Who doesn’t love a classic Mexican burrito? I decided to try the Brazilian burrito. About 16 grams a protein, this is the perfect size for lunch. Loaded with a delicious chimichurri sauce, brown rice, black beans, savory vegan grounds, and Swiss cheese, this vegetarian burrito is another one of my favorites from Sweet Earth Foods.
Preparing this burrito is simple. Unwrap the burrito from its packaging, wrap it in a damp paper towel, place in a microwave-safe dish and pop it in the microwave for a total of two minutes. Rotate the burrito after a minute. The time may range depending on your microwave. The packaging states that you can heat this up in the oven however, it takes about an hour. I went for the easiest option.
I will be purchasing these and I am so happy that I had the chance to try these out. I will say that I never had any sort of vegan food and I must admit, it is no different than regular. Everything that I tried from Sweet Earth Food was very delicious! From the packaging to the portion you can tell that Sweet Earth Foods put so much effort all into their meals.
