Have you ever been curious about Botox and Dermal Filler? I recently had both procedures done and I have all of the answers that you may be circling in your head. Medical spa procedures such as botox and dermal fillers can be an iffy topic. Some a pro-filler and some are all for it. Me? I am all for it.
We have reached a point where getting botox and filler is similar to a trip to the nail salon. Before it would be top secret if someone got “work done” but not anymore. Luckily I have not reached an age where I “need” botox, it was more of a want and I wanted to share my experience with you and answer the most common questions about botox and filler.
I have spent months researching the types of products I would need to get my desired results. There are so many injectables in the med spa market and it is incredible how each product will help create a certain look. Crazy? I know! Eventually, I gave up on googling all of my questionsand turned to a professional. I am sharing the truth about botox and fillers including the pain level! Keep reading…

I went to Chin Up! Aesthetics in Atlanta. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by their sweet staff and waited until my appointment time. Of course, I was nervous since this was my first time getting filler but one of the staff members, Taylor made me feel beyond comfortable. I knew right off the bat that I would be in good hands.
Getting lip filler was something that I’ve been wanting to do for years but I was nervous. My lower bottom lip was always an issue of mine and I would cover it up by overlining my lips. To many people, it was barely noticeable but for me, I noticed it all the time. Of course, lip filler was the only way to fix this slight issue.
As nervous as I was it was my turn to get my procedures started. I met with Afsha, who is the nurse practitioner that would be doing my procedures. I had been in communication with Afsha before my appointment so she was aware of what my goals were. We decided to start with my lip filler since botox takes less than five minutes.
I was excited and nervous at the same time. When getting filler, you will get topical numbing cream and it takes about 15-20 minutes for you to be extra numb. I will say, you will feel numb for sure. Once I realized that I could barely feel anything, my nerves started to ease up a bit. My lip filler procedure took less than 15 minutes and my Dysport took less than 5 minutes.
When I initially posted that I would be getting fillers, I was nervous because I was not sure what the feedback would be from my audience but you guys became so curious that I decided to create this post to be more of a reference for someone who may be interested in getting Botox, Dysport and/or Dermal Fillers.
What is Dermal Filler?
Dermal filler is an injectable made of hyaluronic acid that helps add volume to your face. It can be used to lift and sculpt as well. Dermal fillers and Botox are not the same and both serve its purpose.
Where can you use Dermal Filler?
Dermal filler can be used in your lips, the links around your mouth, nose, cheeks, jawline and chin.
Which filler did you get and how much?
I received 1mL (1 full syringe) of Juvederm Ultra XC for both my top and bottom lip. You can find out more about the types of filler offered at Chin Up! here.
How long does it last?
Approximately 9-12 months. Dermal filler is NOT permanent. Keep in mind, if you are not happy with your dermal filler or want it removed for some reason, you can have it removed by your injector. They have a product that is injected into your current injection site and within 24-48 hours your filler will be gone! I learned this at my follow up appointment. We did remove a tiny bit of filler to ensure everything was balanced. This is normal when you are getting filler for the first time.
Does it hurt?
On a pain level scale, I would say it hurt 4 our of 10, with 10 being the worst. It was a little uncomfortable on the cupids bow area otherwise, it was a quick little pinch. Before you realize the pain, she had moved on to another area.
When it comes to wrinkle reducers, I am such a fan. I had Afsha get rid of my eleven lines aka the glabellar lines – the lines between your eyebrows and a little over my brows for a little brow lift. There are two hot products on the market to get rid of wrinkles, Dysport and Botox. I have never had botox before, but Dysport has always been good to me.
They are both the same product but I have been told that Dysport works faster than Botox that’s why I stick with Dysport.
What is Dysport?
Dysport is an injectable that improves the look of moderate to severe wrinkles. Click here for more info.
How does Dysport work?
Dysport is injected into the muscle and relaxes it therefore it prevents the muscles from contracting.
How Long Does It Last?
Approximately 4 months
How Many Units Did You Get?
60 units total
Does it hurt? No. Not at all. I did not have numbing cream for this.
The main question everyone asks is “how much does all of this cost?” and to be honest, you will have to meet with Afsha for a free consultation she will determine the amount of product that you will need based on your goals. You can also sign up for rewards here.
Aside from injectables, ChinUp! Aesthetics offers microneedling as well. Be sure to head over to their site to view their services, specials, and upcoming events. They also offer memberships starting at $19.99 a month where you can get services at a discounted price.
Overall, I am so happy with my results. I cannot thank Afsha and the amazing staff at ChinUp! for making me comfortable and confident in my decision to get my lips done. Will I keep up with the lip maintenance? FOR SURE! If you are in Atlanta and looking for a new medical spa, visit Chin Up Aesthetics.
