How To Use Dry Shampoo

Thank you Waterl<ss for sponsoring this post.

I always notice that I get many compliments on my hair when I am on my final day to wash my hair. I always laugh and tell people, when you find a good dry shampoo, you will use it until you need to wash your hair.

Let me tell you, dry shampoo and dry conditioner is a huge time saver and super convenient, especially for me. As a work from home mom, sometimes I just don’t have the time to wash, condition and straighten my hair. While it only takes about 45 minutes to do, it is still a process. I can go about a week and a half without washing but on day three my oily hair is more noticeable. That’s when I am attached to my dry shampoo.

Did you know that dry shampoo is good for your hair? Washing your hair often strips your hair of its natural oils while dry shampoo helps regulate natural oil. That’s how you get all of the extra volume and texture while using dry shampoo.

I’ve been using Waterl<ss No Residue Dry Shampoo. It smells amazing and it helps with refreshing oily hair without leaving residue. Waterl<ss was created by a group of scientists who were looking to improve non-wash hair days for all hair types. Their line is produced to work on diverse hair types to help provide clean and conditioned hair without using water. They put these products to the test in Cape Town, South Africa during the water crisis in 2018.

I’ve been pairing this up with the Waterl<ss Weightless Smooth Dry Conditioner. You don’t hear too much about Dry Conditioner but here is why you need to use it – when you use dry shampoo on your roots, you are using this to absorb oils. If you want to contain frizz on your ends, the last thing that you want to do is add oils or serums, therefore, that’s where dry conditioner comes in. The Waterl<ss Dry Conditioner helps with controlling frizz and moisturizing dry ends. Both of these products are paraben and sulfate-free.

When my hair is oily or needs to be washed, I always find that it styles better. This is when I will curly my hair. I like to style my hair first and then use dry shampoo. I use the Waterl<ss Heat Shield & Re-Style. It helps to protect my hair from heat up to 450 degrees.

Step 1:

Part your hair and be sure to only concentrate on oily areas. Spray Waterl<ss Dry Shampoo approximately 6-8 inches away from your hair.

Step 2:

Once you have sprayed the dry shampoo into your hair, let it sit for a minute or so. I found that by letting the dry shampoo sit for a little, it gives it a chance to absorb the oils and help create even more volume. Once the dry shampoo has set on your scalp, gently massage your scalp with your fingertips. If you want extra volume, flip your head over while massaging your scalp. This is the main reason why I like to curl my hair before using dry shampoo.

Step 3 (optional but highly recommended):

Spray Waterl<ss Dry conditioner to the bottom half of your hair to help moisturize your ends and to help prevent frizz.

Step 4:

Brush and style your hair as normal.

I’ve tried many dry shampoos at all price points, but none compare to Waterl<ss. During this time, many of us are working from home, having virtual meetings and getting dressed from the top-up. That includes your hair. On non-wash days, you can easily shampoo and condition hair without water when you use Waterl<ss. You can find Waterl<ss at online at Sally Beauty.
