For many of us, our lives have changed overnight. With the global pandemic happening it is important to keep our families safe. If you are a parent like myself, you have now become a homeschool teacher, in my case, a preschool teacher.
While many of us are struggling to find balance in teaching their child and working from home. I have recently learned that I have to make learning fun versus using a traditional learning method. Every parent is different and everyone’s learning style is different so I figured out what works best for me and my son.
If you are looking for a fun way to teach your little one about why it’s important to have their fruits and vegetables and incorporate this into their at-home learning routines.
My little one is in preschool so we focus on the alphabet, identifying words that begin with letters, our letters of the day and matching letters and words. While in preschool, he would come home every day with the artwork. He loves to be creative. Dole At Home Resources has coloring activities on their site. I printed out these coloring sheets found here and incorporated that into our learning material. Plus, it is a fun way for me to explain why each fruit and vegetable is so important.
Another favorite activity is this one – Snack Your Colors. This is a fun way to get your child to enjoy his or her snacks. You can easily turn this into a fun game. It’s a win-win for both parents and their kids. Lastly, I love this one: Grow Your Alphabet with Dole. With the warmer temperatures here in Georgia, we have been spending lots of time outdoors. I enjoy gardening and doing yard work so for me, this is a perfect time to do this craft. Minimal items are needed to do this. After creating the garden markers, head outside and start your little garden. This is a fun way to show your little one how we can easily grow our fruits and veggies.
Our temporary new normal has been an adjustment for many of us especially if you have children who are no longer in school. There are many companies such as Dole who are working hard to provide fun resources that will help you and your family learn together. For more At Home Resources, click here.
